Mission Statement

To make a positive difference every day in the lives of young children by giving them an authentic hands-on and up-close interaction with horses in a rural ranch setting, as well as to establish tools for parents to learn more about their children.

Early Childhood Coaching (LLC) Program Statement

Horses often teach us more about ourselves than about them.  At ECC, we use horses as a lens to support children and parents.  We work with families in a first-hand, intentional, and individually paced way as their children engage with new experiences of horsemanship. ECC programs are accessible to all children and families regardless of their socioeconomic status through scholarships from generous donations.  My work encourages children to find and hold on to their dreams.  Without dreams, how would we know where to go? Dreams do come true!

About

web About2 (2).jpg

For the past four decades, I have dedicated my career to working with young children, families and teachers. From my first teaching job at a College ECE Lab School in southern California, to serving as the Director of a reputable preschool in San Francisco for over 10 years, to currently serving as an Education Coach for San Francisco Head Start directly supporting teachers in their classroom serving young children ages 0-5. Learning from years of experience I feel this work is more important than ever. I have always sought schools and programs that valued diverse learners, families, and individualizing education and learning styles.

Parenting does not come with a handbook. However, if we take the time to try to understand what a child is telling us by actively listening to them, a child's life can change for the better.  ECC’s work with parents comes from that platform - what is your child trying to tell you; are you actively listening to them; and are you credible in your response? ECC supports parents as they practice and strengthen these skills to foster positive and constructive changes for their children and family.

My dreams have led me to my other passion for horses and riding. Owning two horses has been an amazing journey and learning experience over the past 2 decades. I am motivated and inspired by the correlation between working with horses and working with children.  This correlation also translates to other relationships, i.e., parents and children, or teachers and children.  The positive benefits of connecting children with animals and nature has been documented for years, but this is especially poignant now. It is more important than ever to find ways to connect with ourselves, others and nature.  As we balance our world of screen time, understand social emotional learning and the importance to connect with nature and others, spending time with horses can do just that… help us connect!

About Early Childhood Coaching, LLC

Early Childhood Coaching (ECC) was launched in March 2020.  Early pandemic, it was a time when everyone was desperate to get outdoors, especially children. It was a natural step to merge my professional and personal experiences and to create the space to bring children and their families to my horses and the ranch. Ranch Camp started June 2020-2022 as a pilot program during the Pandemic. It was an amazing success!

RanchCamp@MossBeachRanch “where dreams begin” moved to the ranch next door in the summer of 2023. RanchCamp@MBR carried on with our same mission to provide opportunity for children ages 6-14 to connect with new and old friends, horses, and nature.  The camp program is designed for a true working ranch experience each week of camp- tending to horse and their daily needs, riding horses, hiking, arts + crafts, and spending the day outside in nature.  We know that confidence , self-empowerment and strong social/emotional skills can support children’s ability to thrivein the world.  Ranch Camp offers children unique and positive experiences to build their confidence and skills with horses and people.  It also gives children to develop confidence with being around large animals as we move at each child’s pace.

ECC expanded to offer private Horsemanship and Equine Lessons i..  This program gives children the 1-on-1 opportunity to learn about all aspects of caring for, sadelling and riding a horse.  As their coach, it gives me the opportunity to give sole focus to that individual child and empower them to see themselves in new and distinct ways as they build a relationship between themselves and the horse. Significantly, this program also gives children a way to connect with themselves and build a relationship as they partner with a 1000-pound horse in a hands-on way.

Working with horses develops a persons self-confidence, physical health, core strength, and problem-solving skills. The bond between a child and a horse also allows them to understand how their actions impact other living beings. Horses have high emotional capacity and are great role models for kids to learn empathy, compassion, and responsibility.

COACHING AND CONSULTING

ECC offers Coaching with parents. This is as a partnership with parents to understand the need, discuss strategies and tools for more effective parenting and create a plan. This it is not therapy. The time parents need for coaching varies from parent to parent and the specific area of concern. The work with parents begins with a meeting to listening to gain an understanding of the concerns and challenges parents are facing and what parents hope to receive from coaching. We can then begin to work together with the goal of partnering on these concerns. Additional sessions will be discussed and any follow-up is determined before each session concludes.

ECC Consulting with Elementary Schools in the SF Bay area can provide assessments and observations of programs in action and then meet with staff and administrators to develop strategies for increasing the success of the specific programs.

Deposits with a signed contract for Coaching or Consultations are due prior to the start of a coaching or consulting sessions. All meetings can be arranged for virtual or in person meetings.

Testimonials

“…Lynn has that special combination of compassionate care and deep knowledge of child development. We truly feel that early intervention, and Lynn’s support for us when we needed it most, made all the difference. Our family will always be grateful to her.”

— Jessica and Rick

”Thank you OH MY for introducing my child to what a farm is ALL about. She now officially LOVES horses and knows how to respect and take of the animals. Most of all she COULD not wait to go to camp every day. Grateful for your wisdom and overall coolness. I give you and Kate and this experience my highest recommendation. Feel free to send any curious parents my way and use my name as a reference.”

— Wini

“So happy you’re back and we have been talking about all the fun she had last year ♥♥♥”

— Vanessa

“….Yes, the setting was idyllic and the animals were beautiful, but more mesmerizing was Lynn’s ability to translate her love and care for horses and to use it to empower her entrapt students, who could also at times seem like wild stallions, but who’s energies and capabilities could be harnessed and expanded if given the proper environments, attention, and care. I knew Lynn provided those necessities at her preschool, but as she delivered them again on her ranch, I realized she simply carried them within herself and could meet and nurture the needs of any child or family (or horse!) in any setting.”

— Dan

”….Lynn is able to have tough, important and sometimes uncomfortable conversations, but does so with much compassion, love and respect. Lynn was very protective and respectful of my child. She always kept his best interests at the forefront of all decisions and was quick to redirect when conversations steered away from our child’s best interest.”

— Siobhan
