About
For the past four decades, I have dedicated my career to working with young children, families and teachers. From my first teaching job at a College ECE Lab School in southern California, to serving as the Director of a reputable preschool in San Francisco for over 10 years, to currently serving as an Education Coach for San Francisco Head Start directly supporting teachers in their classroom serving young children ages 0-5. Learning from years of experience I feel this work is more important than ever. I have always sought schools and programs that valued diverse learners, families, and individualizing education and learning styles.
Parenting does not come with a handbook. However, if we take the time to try to understand what a child is telling us by actively listening to them, a child's life can change for the better. ECC’s work with parents comes from that platform - what is your child trying to tell you; are you actively listening to them; and are you credible in your response? ECC supports parents as they practice and strengthen these skills to foster positive and constructive changes for their children and family.
My dreams have led me to my other passion for horses and riding. Owning two horses has been an amazing journey and learning experience over the past 2 decades. I am motivated and inspired by the correlation between working with horses and working with children. This correlation also translates to other relationships, i.e., parents and children, or teachers and children. The positive benefits of connecting children with animals and nature has been documented for years, but this is especially poignant now. It is more important than ever to find ways to connect with ourselves, others and nature. As we balance our world of screen time, understand social emotional learning and the importance to connect with nature and others, spending time with horses can do just that… help us connect!
